For Operating Partners at LMM Buyout & Buy-and-Build Firms
Your first portco in days. All nine in weeks, because nine controllers have to say yes and two of them are on QuickBooks Desktop.
Every portco runs its own ERP and CRM, so the monthly KPI pack arrives as a different spreadsheet from every controller, weeks after the month closed.
A data warehouse built specifically for operating partners at lower middle market and buy-and-build firms. Connect every portfolio company's ledger and operating system as it is. Live in about 48 hours.
The join, made visible
Every system you run — and the answers you can't get today.
One shared key across every system. No exports, no VLOOKUP — the tools you already run, finally answering the questions that matter.
Good morning, Morgan.

Synopsis is a data warehouse for operating partners at lower middle market buyout and buy-and-build firms, live on your own systems in about 48 hours. Portfolio companies on QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Salesforce land alongside Chronograph and your own KPI templates in one warehouse keyed to the same portfolio company and period. A question like showing June revenue and EBITDA for every portco in the same format, straight from their own ledgers, becomes a single query. Updated August 2026.
Popular pairings
The pairings that make nine ledgers report as one.
No portco changes systems. Each ledger maps to one shared KPI definition, so the pack assembles instead of arriving.
QuickBooks + NetSuite
Synopsis integrates portcos on QuickBooks with portcos on NetSuite under one chart-of-accounts mapping, so revenue and EBITDA compare line for line.
Sage Intacct + Chronograph
Synopsis connects Sage Intacct trial balances to the Chronograph KPI set, so monthly reporting arrives mapped rather than as an attachment.
Salesforce + QuickBooks
Synopsis joins a portco's Salesforce pipeline and bookings to its QuickBooks ledger, so operating KPIs and financials come from the same source.
NetSuite + Chronograph
Synopsis syncs NetSuite ledger actuals into Chronograph portfolio monitoring, so the entry case and the current month sit side by side.
ServiceTitan + Sage Intacct
Synopsis integrates ServiceTitan operating data at a services portco with its Sage Intacct ledger, so unit economics are visible above the GL.
Dynamics 365 + QuickBooks
Synopsis joins a larger portco on Dynamics to the smaller ones on QuickBooks, so scale differences do not break the roll-up.
Questions
Answers before you ask.
Every portco runs a different ERP. Can they still report the same monthly KPIs?
Yes, and how depends on the position. On a control buyout you can mandate read-only ledger access, so each portfolio company's QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Xero lands in one warehouse mapped to a single portfolio chart of accounts and one set of KPI definitions. On a minority recap, a growth investment or a family office direct you receive the reporting package the company submits instead, and Synopsis parses that into the same tables. QuickBooks Desktop has no cloud API, so it connects through the Web Connector or a small agent on the company's own server. Either way revenue, EBITDA and headcount read the same way in every package, Synopsis does not replace your systems of record, and no portco has to migrate.
We just closed an add-on. How fast does it join the monthly pack?
A first system answers within days once you have access to it. Getting all nine takes weeks, because nine controllers at nine separate companies each have to agree, and the ones on QuickBooks Desktop need the Web Connector or an agent installed on their own server. From there a newly acquired company's ledger, payroll and CRM data lands in the existing warehouse without re-platforming the business or waiting on an ERP project, and the portfolio dashboards pick it up as one more company.
What if a portco's controller will not give us ledger access?
That happens most often on minority positions, where you cannot mandate it. Synopsis then parses the reporting package the company already submits, the same workbook or PDF it sends today, into the same tables a connected ledger would fill. The company reports once, the way it always has, and still lands in the portfolio roll-up. On a control position, read-only access is usually the faster route, and controllers tend to agree once they see they stop rebuilding the pack by hand.
Does Synopsis integrate QuickBooks with NetSuite for a portfolio roll-up?
Yes. Portfolio companies on QuickBooks and portfolio companies on NetSuite land in one warehouse under one chart-of-accounts mapping, so the same KPIs read across every portco without anyone changing systems. The same holds for Sage Intacct, Xero, Dynamics 365, Chronograph, and whatever a newly acquired add-on runs.
We run a system that isn't listed here. Can you connect it?
Usually, yes. The AI builds the connector from an export or an API, and a new system is typically flowing in days. If it can produce a file, it is a candidate.
How long until we can start asking questions?
Your first connected systems are answering questions in about 48 hours, and a full rollout lands in days, not a multi-quarter data project.
Do we need a data team or anyone who knows SQL?
No. We configure your warehouse with you and connect the systems you already run; your team just asks questions in plain English. Nobody has to write SQL or babysit pipelines unless they want to.
Does Synopsis replace the software we already use?
No. Your systems of record — ERP, CRM, accounting, and the rest — stay exactly where they are. Synopsis sits on top and joins them into one place you can query, so you report across everything instead of exporting from each tool.
Where does our data live, and is it secure?
Your data stays in your own warehouse — we don't keep a copy. Access is governed per user and every query is audit-logged. Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II, and you can review our live security posture in the Trust Center.
How is this different from a BI tool or a stack of dashboards?
BI tools chart data that something else already had to clean and join. Synopsis does that upstream work — connecting your systems, resolving entities, and enforcing your metric definitions — then answers in plain English, builds the dashboards, and traces every number back to its source.
