Pricing

One platform fee for the whole stack.

The usual route is a warehouse, four or five tools around it, and someone to connect them. That is five contracts, five renewal dates, and most of them priced in units you have to convert before you know what you spent. Synopsis is one platform fee, scoped to how many systems we connect for you.

What you spend, over timeThe traditional warehouse-plus-tools route starts with a large implementation cost and then keeps adding separate tool contracts. Synopsis starts at zero and rises gently. What is included

Everything below is in the platform fee.

Not an add-on, not a higher tier, not a separate contract. The right column is what most teams are paying for separately today, which is the part that makes the comparison honest.

What you getWhat it replaces
The warehouse itselfApache Iceberg in a cloud account you own, queryable directly by any engine you like.
A separate warehouse contract
Connectors and ingestion500+ sources, and AI builds a custom connector when yours is not on the list.
An ingestion tool billed per row
Modeling and entity resolutionRaw tables become linked entities that agree on what a customer, a job or a location is.
A transformation tool, plus the engineers to run it
The semantic layerYour metrics defined once and enforced everywhere, so two teams cannot quietly disagree.
A metrics layer, or a spreadsheet nobody trusts
Chat and ad-hoc analysisAsk in plain English. Every answer traces back to the source rows behind it.
An AI analytics add-on
Dashboards and BIBuilt from a prompt, refreshed automatically, shared with anyone who needs them.
Per-seat BI licences
Data appsOperational apps your team actually works inside, not only charts to look at.
An internal tools platform
Workflows and automationsWatch the data, act when it changes, push the result back into your systems.
A reverse ETL tool and a workflow tool
Data scienceNotebooks and forecasts, with the modelled data already sitting there.
A notebook platform
IntegrationsExcel, Google Sheets, Slack, and your AI tools over MCP.
Point solutions and CSV exports
Security and governanceSOC 2 Type II, role-based access, and lineage on every number.
A governance add-on
Configuration and supportWe build it with your team, with named contacts and real response times.
A systems integrator engagement
One fee covers the entire list. There is no edition of Synopsis where half of it is switched off.

What determines your price

The work is in the joining, not the volume.

Connecting a system is the easy part. The work, and the cost, is modelling it, resolving its entities against everything else you run, and keeping that correct as your business changes.

01 · Systems

How many we connect

Every source we ingest, model and keep in sync. This is the main driver of what you pay.

02 · Complexity

How hard they are to join

How much entity resolution it takes to make those systems agree on a customer, a job or a location.

03 · Support

How fast you need us

Standard, or the tighter response and named contacts larger teams ask for.

What you will not find on your invoice

No units you have to decode.

Databricks bills in DBUs. Snowflake bills in credits that convert to compute at a rate depending on edition, region and warehouse size. Ask a rep what one of those costs you in a month and watch how long the answer takes. Units like that are not an accident; they make the number hard to hold in your head.

Our commitment is legibility. Whatever appears on your invoice is something you can point at, explain to your CFO, and predict next quarter without a conversion table.

Storage

Your warehouse can grow without changing what you pay us.

Security and compliance

Your data stays in your warehouse.

Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II. Your data lands in a warehouse you own and can query directly. We do not hold a copy of your business and sell you access to it. Our security posture is published live rather than described.

How it starts

You are not billed until it is live.

We connect your systems and get the first answers out before you pay anything. That part is on us. Billing starts once your warehouse is running and your team is using it, not when you sign.

Every Synopsis warehouse is configured together with your team rather than handed to an outside integrator as a project plan. That is what keeps it from becoming another stalled data project, and it is why there is no third-party implementation fee to get started.

Questions

What am I actually paying for?

One platform fee covering the whole platform: the warehouse, connectors, modelling, the semantic layer, chat, dashboards, data apps, workflows and data science. There is no edition of Synopsis where half of it is switched off, so the question is never which features you bought.

Do I still need to buy other tools alongside it?

No, and this is usually the largest line in the comparison. Teams arriving from a traditional stack are paying separately for an ingestion tool, a transformation tool, a BI licence per seat, a reverse ETL tool and a notebook platform. All of that is inside the platform fee here.

What makes one deployment cost more than another?

Mainly the number of systems we connect and model, and how much entity resolution it takes to reconcile them. A business running six systems with clean identifiers costs less to model than one running fifteen with none.

Do you charge for storage?

No. Storage is not billed. Your data sits in a warehouse in your own cloud account, so you keep the direct relationship with that provider, and your warehouse can grow without changing what you pay us.

Will I get an invoice full of units I have to decode?

No. Databricks bills in DBUs. Snowflake bills in credits that convert to compute at a rate depending on edition, region and warehouse size. Whatever appears on a Synopsis invoice is something you can point at and explain, without a conversion table in your other hand.

Is there an implementation fee?

There is no third-party implementation fee. We configure your warehouse together with your team rather than handing you to an outside systems integrator, so the statement of work that normally comes before anything works does not exist here.

What does “start for free” actually mean?

We configure your warehouse with you before you pay anything, connecting your systems and getting the first answers out. That part is on us. Billing starts once it is live and your team is using it.

How long does it take to go live?

Days, not quarters. Every Synopsis warehouse is configured together with your team rather than handed to you as a project plan.

Is there a contract term?

Plans are annual by default. Ask us if you need something different for a first year.

What happens to my warehouse if we stop?

It is yours. The warehouse, the models and the data stay where they are. You are not renting access to your own business, so leaving does not mean starting over.

Why pay for this when I could point Claude at my systems with MCP?

For one question against one system, you should. The cost shows up when the answer has to span five systems that disagree about what a customer is. MCP can reach each system, but something still has to reconcile them, keep that reconciliation correct as the business changes, and make the result governed and repeatable. That is the part Synopsis does.

Why isn’t there a self-serve checkout?

Because the answer depends on your systems, and we would rather scope it properly than sell you a tier that does not fit. Tell us what you run and we will come back with one number.

Cost comparison describes the shape of a typical build-it-yourself deployment, meaning a warehouse, the tooling around it and the services to assemble them, against Synopsis. Competitor billing units are described from their published pricing documentation. Your figures will depend on your systems and workload. Final pricing, term and scope are set in your order form. See our terms.
