For Interventional Pain, Spine & ASC Practices

The EMR, the clearinghouse, and the PT affiliate never share a patient story

You schedule the procedure in one system and fight the denial in a second. The PT affiliate charts in a third, and one patient story never spans them.

A data warehouse built specifically for interventional pain, spine, and ambulatory surgery practices. Connect the EMR, the clearinghouse, the PT affiliate, and DME. Live in about 48 hours.

Synopsis is a data warehouse for interventional pain, spine, and ASC practices, live on your own systems in about 48 hours. athenahealth practice management, WebPT charting at the PT affiliate, Waystar claims and denials, Brightree DME records, payer portal data, and the QuickBooks ledger land in one warehouse keyed to the same patient and referral. A question like which referring providers sent fewer procedures this quarter than last becomes a single query. Updated August 2026.

Popular pairings

The pairings that make one patient story span the practice.

The procedure is scheduled in one system and the denial is fought in a second, while the PT affiliate charts in a third. These pairings join them.

athenahealth + Waystar

Synopsis integrates athenahealth encounters with Waystar claims and denials, so a denial reads with the procedure and the authorisation behind it.

athenahealth + WebPT

Synopsis connects the athenahealth practice record to WebPT charting at the PT affiliate, so the same patient's procedure and therapy course are one record.

Waystar + QuickBooks

Synopsis joins Waystar remittance detail to the QuickBooks ledger, so collected revenue per procedure and per payer is measurable.

Brightree + athenahealth

Synopsis syncs Brightree DME dispensing and billing to the athenahealth encounter, so ancillary margin is attributable to the visit that generated it.

Payer portals + Waystar

Synopsis integrates payer portal authorisation status with Waystar claim outcomes, so an authorisation problem is separable from a coding problem.

eClinicalWorks + Waystar

Synopsis joins a practice on eClinicalWorks to the same Waystar revenue-cycle view, so the analysis does not depend on your EMR vendor.

Questions

Answers before you ask.

Which referrals became procedures, and where does that answer come from?

The converted half comes from your claims. Every claim for a rendered service carries the referring provider NPI, so Synopsis reads athenahealth charges and Waystar remits together and reports procedures, collections, and quarter over quarter change per referring provider. The referrals that never converted are a harder question: athenahealth processes outbound referrals and files an inbound one as a chart document, so the denominator only exists where your front desk logs inbound referrals at intake. Synopsis reads that intake log where you keep one, and either way it tells you which referrers have gone quiet on converted volume. Synopsis brings the records together for analysis; it doesn't replace your systems of record.

Will you sign a BAA, and where does patient data sit?

Yes, we sign a business associate agreement before any patient data moves. Your warehouse runs in your own environment, so PHI stays where it already lives and we don't keep a copy. We scope the fields we bring across to what your questions actually need, so a denial or referral question doesn't pull a whole chart.

Can we see the PT affiliate's episodes next to the practice's procedures?

Yes. WebPT, Prompt Health, or whichever therapy EMR the affiliate runs lands in the same warehouse as your EMR, keyed to the same patient, so a referred episode reads with the procedure that sent it: whether therapy started, how many visits it ran, and what it collected. Where the affiliate is a separate legal entity, the agreements are papered for that entity before any data moves.

Does Synopsis integrate athenahealth with Waystar?

Yes. athenahealth encounters and Waystar claims and denials land in one warehouse keyed to the same patient and procedure, so denial patterns read against the authorisations and referrals behind them in one query. The same holds for eClinicalWorks, NextGen, WebPT, Brightree, and the payer portals your billing team works from.

We run a system that isn't listed here. Can you connect it?

Usually, yes. The AI builds the connector from an export or an API, and a new system is typically flowing in days. If it can produce a file, it is a candidate.

How long until we can start asking questions?

Your first connected systems are answering questions in about 48 hours, and a full rollout lands in days, not a multi-quarter data project.

Do we need a data team or anyone who knows SQL?

No. We configure your warehouse with you and connect the systems you already run; your team just asks questions in plain English. Nobody has to write SQL or babysit pipelines unless they want to.

Does Synopsis replace the software we already use?

No. Your systems of record — ERP, CRM, accounting, and the rest — stay exactly where they are. Synopsis sits on top and joins them into one place you can query, so you report across everything instead of exporting from each tool.

Where does our data live, and is it secure?

Your data stays in your own warehouse — we don't keep a copy. Access is governed per user and every query is audit-logged. Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II, and you can review our live security posture in the Trust Center.

How is this different from a BI tool or a stack of dashboards?

BI tools chart data that something else already had to clean and join. Synopsis does that upstream work — connecting your systems, resolving entities, and enforcing your metric definitions — then answers in plain English, builds the dashboards, and traces every number back to its source.
