For DTC Seafood & Subscription Box Brands

Harvest records, processor lots, cold chain, and the storefront, joined before the product spoils

You ship product that spoils in days. The harvest record, the processor lot, the cold-chain log, and the storefront order share no common key.

A data warehouse built specifically for direct-to-consumer seafood and subscription box brands. Connect the storefront, fulfillment, cold-chain loggers, traceability, and the GL. Live in about 48 hours.

Synopsis is a data warehouse for direct-to-consumer seafood brands shipping product that spoils in days, live on your own systems in about 48 hours. Shopify orders, ShipStation shipments, Tive cold-chain logger readings, NetSuite cost, Trace Register harvest and processor lots, and CBP ACE import records land in one warehouse keyed to the same lot and order. A question like which lot a thawed box came from and what else from that lot is still in transit becomes a single query. Updated August 2026.

Popular pairings

The pairings that connect the harvest record to the doorstep.

The catch, the processor lot, the cold chain, and the storefront order describe one box. Joined on a lot key, a complaint becomes a containment decision.

Shopify + ShipStation

Synopsis integrates Shopify orders with ShipStation shipments and lanes, so every box carries the lot and the route it travelled.

Tive + ShipStation

Synopsis connects Tive logger temperature history to the ShipStation shipment it rode with, so a cold-chain excursion maps to specific orders.

Trace Register + Shopify

Synopsis joins Trace Register harvest and processor lot records to the Shopify SKU sold, so a customer complaint resolves to a lot rather than to a guess.

NetSuite + Shopify

Synopsis syncs NetSuite landed cost per lot to Shopify storefront revenue, so margin by species and by origin is measurable.

CBP ACE + Trace Register

Synopsis integrates import entry records with lot traceability, so origin documentation is available when a buyer or regulator asks.

ShipStation + NetSuite

Synopsis joins ShipStation freight and packaging cost to the NetSuite order, so the true cost of a cold-shipped box is known per lane.

Questions

Answers before you ask.

Why can't we trace a storefront order back to its harvest lot or its customs entry?

Because each system keys on something different: the storefront knows the order, the 3PL knows the pallet, the traceability system knows the lot, and a customs entry knows the import shipment. Shopify does not carry a lot at the order line, so the binding is minted at pack-out in Fishbowl or in your cold-storage 3PL's system. Synopsis lands them in one warehouse and carries that pack-out lot forward onto the order, so order-to-harvest and lot-to-order questions become one query. Synopsis brings the records together for analysis; it doesn't replace your systems of record.

Can it keep our SIMP and FSMA 204 records ready for an audit or a recall?

Yes, with one distinction worth stating. SIMP applies to imports in the thirteen species groups NOAA lists, shrimp, tuna and swordfish among them, and salmon is not one of them, so a domestic Alaska lot carries no SIMP obligation while an imported shrimp lot does. Synopsis joins harvest and processor records, traceability lot codes, and shipped orders at the lot level, and for imported lots it joins the customs entry and catch document to that same lot. FSMA 204's compliance date is July 20, 2028, so the useful work today is finding lots already missing key data elements. Your QA lead still reviews and files; Synopsis assembles the evidence behind each lot.

What if our cold-storage 3PL will not give us a data feed?

A file works. Most cold-storage 3PLs send a daily or weekly inventory and pack-out export by email or SFTP, and that is enough to key lots to orders. Where a 3PL sends nothing, the lot gets minted at pack-out in Fishbowl or your own system instead, and the join still holds.

Does Synopsis integrate Shopify with ShipStation for lot traceability?

Yes. Shopify orders and ShipStation shipments land in one warehouse keyed to the same lot and order, so a cold-chain excursion resolves to the exact customers affected in one query. The same holds for BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Tive, Trace Register, NetSuite, and the rest of a DTC seafood brand's systems.

We run a system that isn't listed here. Can you connect it?

Usually, yes. The AI builds the connector from an export or an API, and a new system is typically flowing in days. If it can produce a file, it is a candidate.

How long until we can start asking questions?

Your first connected systems are answering questions in about 48 hours, and a full rollout lands in days, not a multi-quarter data project.

Do we need a data team or anyone who knows SQL?

No. We configure your warehouse with you and connect the systems you already run; your team just asks questions in plain English. Nobody has to write SQL or babysit pipelines unless they want to.

Does Synopsis replace the software we already use?

No. Your systems of record — ERP, CRM, accounting, and the rest — stay exactly where they are. Synopsis sits on top and joins them into one place you can query, so you report across everything instead of exporting from each tool.

Where does our data live, and is it secure?

Your data stays in your own warehouse — we don't keep a copy. Access is governed per user and every query is audit-logged. Synopsis is SOC 2 Type II, and you can review our live security posture in the Trust Center.

How is this different from a BI tool or a stack of dashboards?

BI tools chart data that something else already had to clean and join. Synopsis does that upstream work — connecting your systems, resolving entities, and enforcing your metric definitions — then answers in plain English, builds the dashboards, and traces every number back to its source.
